  • Essay Questions

  • All three essay question answers should be answered in one document that is uploaded below in Word or PDF format. Answers for each essay question have ranged from 400 - 750 words; we ask that applicants ensure they answer the questions asked.

    1. What do you see as TA's purpose? In recent years TA has articulated a mission and values. What about them do you find most compelling or speak most to you? Do you think TA is fulfilling its purpose through its current programs? If so, what do you see as key to achieving success in the organization’s mission? If not, what changes or alternative/additional programs would you propose?

    2. What have you learned about democracy and self-governance from your prior experience in TA programs, Deep Springs, Arete / Tidelines, or other endeavors? How have those experiences changed you? How would this experience inform how you approach being a member of TA's Board and operating TA's programs?

    3. TA has wrestled for years with how to pursue a commitment to anti-racism, equity, and social justice in our programs and operations. What is your context and experience facing these types of challenges? If you can, draw from your work with other organizations. What are some of the changes or next steps that you would pursue in the context of the TA program with which you are most familiar?
